About Us

THE C. G. JUNG INSTITUTE OF SAN DIEGO

Out of the ashes, the phoenix rises.

The motive force to establish the C. G. Jung Institute of San Diego (CGJISD) was to resurrect and restore a former site of Jungian analytic training which existed in San Diego under the Society of Jungian Analysts of San Diego (SJASD).

The founders of our restored institute have over one hundred and twenty years of collective clinical and teaching experience in Jungian theory and practice and have taught dozens of courses over the last thirty years based upon Jung’s collected works, the works of Marie Louise von Franz, Barbara Hannah, Erich Neumann, Esther Harding and Edward Edinger, to name a few.

Geographically, the restored C. G. Jung Institute of San Diego will serve a population of 9.2 million people in San Diego, Riverside and Orange counties. Further, as no Jungian training program presently exists in the country of Mexico, and as San Diego is directly on the border with Mexico and the city of Tijuana, it is feasible for training candidates from that country to access our restored training program in San Diego.

In addition the CGJISD curriculum and program of studies are infused with the core competencies of Jungian Psychoanalysis (as defined in Gudaite & Kelly, 2023) including “the general understanding that a Jungian analyst is an academically educated person who has a solid knowledge of psychological theories as well as a highly developed understanding of symbolic material as it manifests itself in dreams, art, myths, and fairy tales. A Jungian analyst is also a person, who through their own personal analysis and clinical work with patients, has experienced how deep processes in an analysis can lead to personal transformations” (Berg, 2023).

We cordially invite you to join us for some of our free Basic Jung seminars (see events) to see if the C. G. Jung Institute of San Diego would be a good fit for you to become expertly trained to become a certified IAAP Jungian analyst.

We also encourage you to look through the details of our analyst training program/guidelines.

Warmly,

The founding analysts of the C. G. Jung Institute of San Diego:
